More than 100 physicians and office staff gathered to learn about the new health reform plan. Members were educated on their roles and options available to their employees as well as patients.

Jihad A. Mustapha, MD

Dr. Jihad Mustapha, interventional cardiologist with Metro Health and a member of the Kent County Medical Society, was recently featured in The Grand Rapids Press/MLive article titled "Metro Health vascular docs to begin treating at Allegan General".  Dr. Mustapha has led the development of a Metro Health program specializing in treating peripheral arterial disease (PAD).

October CME Event

Dr. Jack Dekkinga, a dermatologist with The Skin Revitalizing Center and a member of the Kent County Medical Society, was recently featured on WOOD TV 8's eightWest program talking about non-invasive, FDA-approved treatments for excessive underarm sweating that can be preformed right in the physician's office.

Valerie I. Shavell, MD

Dr. Valerie Shavell, fertility specialist with The Fertility Center and a Member of the Kent County Medical Society, was interviewed on Wood TV8's EightWest program on a segment titled "Answers to tough fertility questions" providing answers to viewer questions and talking about other services provided by their practice.

MSU-CHM Medical Business & Finance

KCMS was proud to participate in three sessions of the Medical Business and Finance courses with MSU-CHM students. Members Larry Gerbens, MD, Donald Condit, MD, MBA and Christopher Glisson, DO, participated in class training sessions, while the KCMS sponsored lunch or dinner for the event.

Thomas A. Getz, MD

Dr. Thomas Getz, medical director of Betty Ford Breast Care Services and a member of the Kent County Medical Society, was recently a featured speaker for the Candid Conversations event held on October 14 at Ah-Nab-Awen Park in Grand Rapids.   Attendees learned more about the latest in screening options such as tomosynthesis (3D mammography) and other breast imaging services.

Robyn S. Hubbard, MD

Dr. Robyn Hubbard, an obstetrician/gynecologist with Grand Rapids Women's Health and a member of the Kent County Medical Society, was recently featured in a health segment on WZZM 13 titled "Your teens and sex" talking about the reality of teenagers having sex at an even earlier age and the risks of them becoming infected with a sexually transmitted disease.

Dr. Bradley Bengtson, plastic surgeon with Bengtson Center for Plastic Surgery and a member of the Kent County Medical Society, was recently featured on WOOD TV 8's eightWest program talking about different breast surgery options and upcoming events and seminars being held by his practice.
